Why Nyonya don’t use chopstick

First of all, I want to said, I am still really confusing about Baba and Nyonya. It really seem to be a dying culture, because of old Nyonya are get old, new Nyonya are not so traditional, and lot question that answer that are still remind unknown.

There are article saying they are mostly Muslim, and some said they are Chinese beliefs. And even news about are they Muslim or non-muslim. http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/1/24/nation/13197630&sec=nation But this is not what I am interesting in, the thing that I really fell interesting is how they having meal.

The Baba are male that come from China that use chopstick all the time and Nyonya are local Malays that use right hand when they are having meal. Chinese man that time should be the most powerful person in the family that controls almost everything. Why it end up using right hand? All their tableware seems to be so Chinese but there is one thing that is missing from all the tableware, the chopstick. Where are the chopsticks? Do I ask the tour guide, she explain that the Nyonya cook some spice food and it seems fun to have meal with hand, so end up Baba use hand to eat the food. I feel like is a answer but not really enough to explain why, so I do some research and come out with some reason.

Reason 1:

Woman cook while man work outside.

Most Nyonya are good at cooking because they stay at home making meal and kuih. Kitchen is control by woman, and like tour guide said, their food are mostly Malay style, so it’s kind of feel better to taste it using their way.

Reason 2:

Woman take care of child

Since Nyonya get married when they while quite young, they usually have lot of kids. Who take care of them? The wife for sure. They teach them to speak, teach them manner, and also how to eat. Children have been taught using hand to have meal, so they give up the use of chopstick.

Reason 3:

It tastes better?

I meet a Baba when we buy some traditional kuih alone the street of Malacca. He is the seller of the kuih stand. I ask he do he use chopstick normally, and he answer he use fork and spoon. It just tastes better. So I ask again, do he use hand to have meal, he said his father used to use hand in the past. I think is like Malay, some of them are also using fork and spoon nowadays.

Reason 4:

Maximize (放大化)

This is also the reason that kills this culture, maximize. People love to maximize things. Nyonya might use hand to eat, it shows the mixture between Malay and Chinese, but do every Nyonya use hand to eat? It is really hard to find it, everyone is saying that Nyonya use hand to eat, then end up, every Nyonya use hand to eat. What about the rest that use chopstick. It is not only about chopstick. This maximize make Nyonya not so Nyonya. This is killing traditional culture.

There is a funny facts that all the tableware that been show in the museum, there are only bowl for soup but no bowl for rice, because they use plate and hand to have meal.

Web design 2-- Project Concept

Project Definition

For this project, we have been given 7 week to redesign a commercial website. And the client for me is Pallas. Pallas is a local shoes company that mainly product canvas shoes and school shoes. Target client are mostly 7 to 18 for school shoes and 16 to 24 for canvas shoes. So their web's main target audients are youth and youngster. So I should make the thier web look more interting and more young to suit thier target.

Current Site's Analysis & Goals

Their current website is for promoting their shoes and to let people know more about shoes(the history of the shoes) and also to promote what you should wear in difference place(tasik kenyir). But it seem to be very boring topic for youth. And the history is not really related to thier shoes.

And for the website itself, it is very massy with broken links(alot), mystery meat(i really click lot of time) and lot of web mistake(no table, no consistent layout, not browser friendly also). They are using green as their background due to their corporate color, but it is too over use and it look too shape for a background color. And there are not much about their production and also their company information. How you can sell you production without showing any of your product.

Client's Analysis

Pallas is a local shoes company that sell shoes. Their canvas shoes are like others canvas shoes, but their shoes is much cheaper, and this is a really good thing for them. That is the point that they can increase their sales and bring their product to international.

USP (Unique Selling Point)

After seeing some of their ads, i think their USP is Long lasting(a walk of life) and also comfortable.

Short & Long-term Site Goals

Short-term is to increase sales and viewer for this web. Do more promotion and also reimage the pallas shoes, to make it a brand to represent young and fasion.

Long-term is to have a group of loyalty customers, and also try to make pallas a brand that represent canvas shoes and school shoes.

Mission and Vision Statement

Their mission is to get more sales for sure, but for the vision is to make their canvas shoes the first choose amount other brand in Malaysia.

Pallas is a local shoes company that product mostly canvas shoes. Canvas shoes are mostly be wear by youth and youngster between 15 to 25, so their web should look younger and more energy. And also, Pallas second production are school shoe.

They are using a trip to Tasik Kenyir.

Good side-- #Company logo are in all page.

#Using a map to show all the pallas shop in Malaysia.

#Expect for the 1st page, other page are still in consistent.

Bad side-- #Too many flash in their web but nothing fancy. Can be reduce.

#It doesn't really look like a web that target youth.

#Size of the main page is too small, but other are still ok.

#Not consistence in the size of all the page.

#There are some broken link.

#There are some image that look like button but it's actually not.

#The trip to Tasik Kenyir way to suggest shoe is creative, but not really effective.

花了两天把朋友不小心忘在我家的书看完了...九把刀的《后青春的诗》...
我不喜欢看书，但不知怎么的就看完了...
可能是因为跟五月天的《后青春的诗》同名吧...但真开心我把它看完了...
没看过九把刀的书，不知是不是每本的感觉都很像，但我开始喜欢上他的书了...

梦想是好事还是坏事？是梦想，幻想还是白日梦空想？
人因梦想而伟大，但人也因岁月而忘了自己的梦想...
我记得了我七岁时写下的志愿，1）警察 2）消防员 3）商人

现在我读设计也是我的梦想。
梦想成为大导演，拍一部得奖短片，跟朋友合伙做生意，娶现在的女朋友当老婆。
但因为时间的侵蚀，梦想都被冲走了。
被时间被年龄。

功课多吗？
很多。。。但我很开心，我很享受。。。
我朋友说过“不要因为交功课而做功课”
但就会有人问“那你为了什么而做功课”
我选择了设计，离开了烦死了的小学中学。。。
选了自己喜欢的。。。家人怕我太累，我都说ok，因为是我选的路，我喜欢我选的路。。。

有一次，跟爸爸在车上。。。
他问我，“你看到前面那辆车吗？”
“等我燕屋养成了就买一辆”
我愣了一下，原来爸爸也有梦想。。。
有种感动的感觉。。。

『不能害怕自己不相信的东西。』
书上的最后一章是酱写的。
怕鬼吗？怕失败？怕长大？
我不怕（一些），因为我了解我害怕的东西（一些）
了解失败，了解长大，了解鬼？！（>.<）
希望大家不要不相信自己的梦想哦～
因为之后就会害怕梦想，没有梦想。。。

How do waste 7 bucks in a second?
If you think it is crazy to waste it in a second, think again..
You will feel sad or even angry to waste it with you priceless time...
To have a 6.95 lunch in fast food that take you 45min to queue and just 3 min to finish,
or just go to cinema to have a sit with the movie DB evolution...

When i love dragon ball since i was a child, when i know they are going to have it on movie with real people, i was so happy, but i was wrong...
I think i first know it is going to have this movie is about five years ago, so that mean i have wait for five years but it spoil my dream...

If i don't know what i am watching, i will probably thought it was a mask rider or power ranger movie. A young guy and a bad guy that always come with a hot girl. But i am sorry to say the girl is not hot and it is dragonball...

First, the story line...
Is about a 18 years old guy call goku that have a grandpa that know kungfu.
He meet a girl call chi chi in high school and he was invited to her b'day party.
And that day is also goku b'day and the scary thing is, that night is full moon...
So goku become the beast(because of the full moon) and kill chi chi, the world being destroy and movie end.
But it didn't happen, goku told chi chi is his b'day and the camera even forces on the full moon. Aizzz...

Then Piccolo kill Grandpa Gohan and goku feel that, he go home and grandpa died...
So he go in the house that have been destroy and he just so open a box and find the orange suit(goku suit in comic). Lucky he didn't wear it. But then Bulma and she got the dragonball searching thing. but she don't know there are more dragonball and goku told her.(In comic, goku don't know there are 7 db and he know by Bulma)
So they go to Master Roshi that grandpa told him to do so...

Then the come to Master Roshi house that located in the middle of a little lake that located in the big city. Is really a small lake and it look like ruin lake(废弃了的湖). (Is on the big big ocean in the comic...)

So bla bla bla...
they fight, goku lost... and Master Roshi teach him kung fu...
and go forgot what name shan. and he meet chi chi. she is a kung fu fighter also.
then they go to find a dragonball and drop into a big hole and a guy come out to want money from them. I really don't know who he is until i come home and go online and my friend told me. He is 狼牙 yam cha... A Korean guy that speak weird English.

They dig and go to a volcano(underground?)(like the lord of the ring colcano but worse...).
They fight with bad guy and goku get the dragonball and like the ball in the lord of the ring. Flodo see something... Sorry is Goku. He see the future that is no show in the comic.Dragonball wont so the future... It wont...

Bla bla bla...
he learn the kame-hame-ha 龟派气功.
And Piccolo get all the dragonball but good guy come, the summon didn't succeed. Dragon didn't come. They fight. Before they fight Goku wear shoes and gloves and the orange suit in the car. Then the eclipse come. The sun gone, then goku become beast and it really ugly... It look like werewolf but also like king kong... Very tiny not like the comic... But you really hardly see the beast because they didn't shoot a lot. Just flashing from here to there then shoot the hand then the foot then one second of face then no more.

Then goku come bak then kame-hame-ha Piccolo died.
Ya and i forgot to said Master Roshi died before Piccolo died.
So they put the dragonball together and a gold dragon come out. They make a wish then Master Roshi wake up. Then happy ending...

Then talk about effect...
Bad!!! The fighting is like Matrix but no that nice...
The colour combination is bad also.
And really, bad...

The character is crazy...
Chi Chi just show her breast...
V shape cloth all the time...
Yamcha look like gangster.
And i really don't know he is Yamcha... Weird English also.
Piccolo look like Mars alien...
But with bat man suit. Without the mask...
Master Mutaito is a black guy...
And ya just weird...

So I really waste 7 bucks and 90 minutes...
If you think you got money but don't know where to spend, just go for this movie...
And you will be missing your 7 bucks...

This is the main page... The mouse cursor is on the story's scroll so the scroll is open abit...

If the mouse cursor are one other samething will happen... is like ready to being open...

If you click the scroll, the scroll will scroll over and the title of the scroll will gone...

Actually there wont be a blank page, it should straightly go to the page below d, but it take time...

i will change it, afterware...

I change the colour of the table to a lighter one to make contrast...

What is the use of the coin rite?

The coin is the previous page and pause and the next page...

Why pause, cause my story wont stop one, is like telling and telling... But the next page is for those who dont have time to read...

Last friday while we are doing stopmotion...
Ritchie found that there is four
little kitten live outside my house.
There is 3 black and a brown kitten...
After that their mon come back...
And the cat mother is really fierce...
Sunday while we are doing stopmotion,
don't who realise that the brown kitten front leg have broken...
Then we decided to chase then away by using water...
We succeed by then they live outside my house...
Today, when i go home i see the brown kitten died...
But is in peace...
Just now, when i go downstair to have a drink,
Song call me to see the kitten, he said is it died?
I know it have died... but then i see a scene that i won't forget...
The kitten is being tear from the stomach..
Fainted... Really feel sad and the scene is so scary...><
A thing that move yesterday die and being..... like this...

So the dead body have to be remove....
Then because song is fear of cat,
so no choose...
I use a plastic bag to grap the dead cat...
Then i throw the cat into the dustbin...
Now i really feel a bit sick, but is ok...
I still can have meal...

Ten things about me

I am Steve from JB. And I use Dragontail in online. It is because my chinese name is 贝荣伟 (Poi Yong Wei) and 荣伟 (Yong Wei) sound like龙尾 (Dragontail). And this is all about me...

My surname is 贝, it's mean shell in English.

I am very tall and skinny. So i look like a bamboo.

I love freedom, so i think sea is like me. Very widely and very edgeless.

And beach short also represent me.
I love to wear beach short cause it is light and comfortable.
I also make me look younger and more sunny.

I wont give up until i make it. So it's like a spider make its web.
Never give until finish.

But i am quite a dirty guy.
My room in KL is a bit or lot (it depends) messy. But i am very clean really.
I bath more then two times a day. (>.<)

My girlfriends say I feel like a rainbow.
She said I make people around me very happy. And my life is full of colors.

I have a big eyes like guli. But it have become smaller since i join TOA.
Because i sleep too late.

I do things very fast. But sometime I am too fast that make my work worse.
In Chinese is call 急性子. So is like instant noodle, fast but not good.

I am very positive!!! I always think things in a very positive way.
And my friends also said i am very positive.
So it's like sunflower, always face to the sun.
